A further 36 chargers in the catalog have no verified connector and are left out rather than guessed. Prices are verified retailer offers, checked October 5, 2026. Counting the units that ship either or both, 59 plug straight into a NACS port and 180 into a J1772 port. Every NACS charger, by verified price.
Adapter facts and their sources
- NACS is standardized as SAE J3400, which covers AC single phase and DC power through two current carrying contacts (SAE J3400, revised September 30, 2024). A J3400 charger and a NACS charger are the same connector.
- Tesla includes a J1772 adapter with every Tesla vehicle delivery and rates it for charging speeds up to 19.2 kW (Tesla shop listing, archived copy of May 20, 2026), so a Tesla can use a J1772 home charger through it.
- Tesla's Universal Wall Connector has an integrated J1772 adapter, which is why the catalog records it as carrying both connectors (Tesla shop listing, archived copy of June 12, 2026).
- A NACS port is not always the home port. Nissan's 2026 LEAF press kit, Mercedes-Benz for the 2026 CLA and Porsche for the 2026 Cayenne Electric each describe a NACS port for DC fast charging only, beside a J1772 port for Level 2 AC charging, so a home charger for those cars needs J1772.
- This database holds no verified data on adapters that let a J1772 car use a NACS only charger, so the counts above treat a NACS only unit as fitting NACS ports only.

Connector questions
- Which charge port does my car have?
- Of the 38 vehicle families we track, 7 have a NACS port in every model year we hold (Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Cybertruck, Tesla Model X, Cadillac Optiq, Toyota bZ, and Hyundai Ioniq 9), 16 have J1772 in every year, and 15 changed ports or have a year we could not verify. The table on this page lists each family by model year.
- Can a Tesla use a J1772 home charger?
- Yes, through the J1772 adapter Tesla includes with every Tesla vehicle delivery, which Tesla rates for up to 19.2 kW. The charge rate is still capped by the charger's output and the car's own onboard limit.
- How many home chargers come with a NACS plug?
- Of the 214 chargers in our catalog with a verified connector, 34 ship NACS only, 24 are sold in either version and 1 carries both, so 59 fit a NACS port directly. The median verified price is $255 for NACS only units and $500 for J1772 only units.
