Portable EV charger prices by amps
The amp rating sets the charging power: at 240 volts, amps times 240 is the watts it can deliver. A car still takes no more than its own onboard limit.

Prices are verified seller listings, all checked on or after October 26, 2026. Each model counts once, at its own figures: the median is the middle of each model's median listing, the range runs from the lowest to the highest of each model's cheapest listing. A median needs at least 3 priced models. Power assumes 240 volts; a unit that also runs on 120 volts delivers half as much there at the same current.
Portable EV charger prices by plug
A portable charger is only as useful as the outlet it plugs into. Each row counts every portable model whose own plug, or a maker-supplied adapter named in its specification, fits that outlet, so a model with an adapter counts in more than one row.
| Outlet | Models | With a verified price | Median | Lowest prices, range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NEMA 5-15 | 27 | 21 | $219 | $109 to $650 |
| NEMA 6-20 | 7 | 6 | $140 | $109 to $330 |
| NEMA 10-30 | 6 | 6 | $229 | $169 to $250 |
| NEMA 14-30 | 5 | 5 | $180 | $169 to $240 |

What to check before you buy
The charger's amps against the outlet's circuit
An EV charges for hours, so the National Electrical Code treats it as a continuous load and holds it to 80 percent of the circuit (the 125 percent rule of NEC 210.20(A)). A NEMA outlet's amp rating is the number after the hyphen in its name (NEMA configuration naming). A charger rated above the outlet's figure below has to run at or under it on that outlet, by its own setting or by an adapter that limits it; a plug that fits is not the same as a circuit that can carry the charger's full rating.
| Outlet | Outlet rating | Most a charger may draw for hours | Portable models that fit it |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEMA 5-15 | 15 A | 12 A | 27 |
| NEMA 6-20 | 20 A | 16 A | 7 |
| NEMA 10-30 | 30 A | 24 A | 6 |
| NEMA 14-30 | 30 A | 24 A | 5 |
| NEMA 14-50 | 50 A | 40 A | 32 |
| NEMA 6-50 | 50 A | 40 A | 4 |
